Computer Authorization
From WikiTSheets
Computer authorization is the concept of allowing employee access to TSheets only from computers permitted to use it. The idea is that employees should be prevented from clocking in or out from unauthorized locations like home. If an employee attempts to login from an unauthorized location an error message is displayed and they are prevented from logging in.

Authorization Methods
The authorization method is configured in the security options under Company Settings. The default method is Authorize Individual Computers by Cookie.
Authorize Individual Computers by Cookie
Allow employees to clock-in from computers that have been authorized by an administrator. Choosing this option will allow you to authorize a computer by setting a permanent cookie on it. If this option is selected, employees will only be allowed to clock-in from computers that have been manually authorized by an administrator using the "Manage Authorization" link from the main menu.
Authorize Locations by IP Address
Allow employees to clock-in from any computer at a given location by authorizing internet IP addresses or networks. If this option is selected, employees will be allowed to clock-in from any computer on a designated network (IP Address.) Network are classified as locations (IP addresses) authorized by an administrator using the "Manage Authorization" link from the main menu.
No Authorization
Allow employees to login and clock-in or out from any computer that has internet access. If this option is selected, employees will be allowed to clock-in from any internet connected computer, and the "Manage Authorization" link from the main menu will be disabled.
Authorization Management
The "Manage Authorization" link from the main menu is used to authorize or unauthorize computers for employee login. You can also use it to name or label a location or network.
How To
Authorize individual computers by cookie (default):
- Log on as an administrator from the computer/location that you wish to authorized.
- After ensuring that your settings are properly set to individual authorization, click on the "Manage Authorization" button along the left hand side of the main TSheets page.
- A box will pop up asking you to name the location; all you will need to do is type the name. You may name it by location (Home Office) or by something to do with its purpose (Main Office Login). Of course, you can also name it something completely random, such as your pet's name (Fido). This is your TSheets account - have some fun if you'd like!
- Simply click the "Authorize This Computer" button and you are set and ready to go.
Authorize locations by IP address:
- You will need to be logged on as an administrator; though it is not necessary to be logged on from the IP address which you wish to authorize.
- Click on the "Manage Authorization" button in the menu along the left hand side of the page.
- A box will pop up, if you already have authorized IP addresses they will be listed here, otherwise there will just be a red link that says "Authorize a new location (IP address)".
- By clicking on that link you will be directed to another box that will contain the IP address from which you are logging on and a blank text field where you will be asked to name the location.
- If you are logging on from the IP address you wish to authorize, simply type in a name and click save.
- If you are logging in from a different address from the one you wish to authorize, delete the IP address that will automatically appear (the one you are on), type in the new one, then name it and save your changes.
Disable computer authorization:
- Click the "Company Settings" link from the main menu.
- Click "Security" to open the security options.
- Click "No Authorization" and click "Save".
